Data feed usage policy

Who is this article for?

This article is written primarily for affiliate networks & merchants. It answers common questions regarding Datafeedr and our usage of merchant data feeds.

Overview

Datafeedr is a service which aggregates and normalizes product data from various affiliate networks and merchants and enables publishers (ie. affiliates) to search for and display a subset of those products on their website.

At the time of this writing, Datafeedr has aggregated 350,000,000+ products from 12,000+ merchants from 30+ affiliate networks.

Do publishers still require approval to promote a merchant's products?

Yes!

Datafeedr does not act as a sub-affiliate network. Our customers are required to use their own affiliate ID in Datafeedr for each network they wish to use. They never use our affiliate ID.

Therefore we do not bypass the approval process that merchants use to control who can and cannot join their affiliate program.

If a Datafeedr customer (ie. publisher/affiliate) wants to receive a commission for referring sales to a merchant, he or she MUST be approved by that merchant at their respective affiliate network.

If a Datafeedr customer (ie. publisher/affiliate) is not approved by a merchant but adds via Datafeedr products from that merchant to his or her site, their affiliate links won't work.

Does Datafeedr modify the data feed product data?

No, we do not modify the content provided in a data feed. Product details such as names, descriptions, prices, etc are not modified in any way.

If a product's affiliate link contains our affiliate ID, our affiliate ID is replaced with the following placeholder characters @@@. This ensures that approved publishers can easily inject their own affiliate ID into the affiliate link.

Otherwise, the affiliate link is identical to the affiliate link provided in the data feed.

How are sales tracked?

Sales are tracked by the respective affiliate network. Datafeedr does not track sales.

Does Datafeedr track traffic, gather data or perform analytics on publisher or merchant actions?

No.

Our customers (ie. the publisher/affiliate) use the product affiliate link provided by the merchants and affiliate networks. We do not monitor or track or act as a "middle-man" for any of the redirects handled by the affiliate network or merchant.

How can we add our data feed to Datafeedr?
